Prayers God Answers

As a young mother, with a colicky baby, I was convinced God did not answer prayers like, “God, please help him feel better!” or “God, please make him stop crying!” Many nights, I would rock my baby while his body was stiff from abdominal pain and his crying was seemingly endless. But, one day the answer came. After three months of agony, the pediatrician finally mentioned that I should not drink milk or use milk products because my breast-fed baby’s body was unable to break down the proteins in the milk. That was a prayer answered.

As my children have grown, I have prayed for the Lord to help me to see what I needed to see, to hear what I needed to hear and to know what I needed to know. Countless times, I have discovered areas in which they were not making good decisions. More prayers answered.

In recent months, I have been confronted by others with questions and in-depth discussions about God. How do we even know God really exists? If God loves us, then why is there so much bad in the earth? These are not questions I have ever had. Having grown up in church, I have always just known that God is and that He is sovereign. It became very important to me to find out the answers to these questions for the ones searching. I began praying for God to lead me to the answers, unsure of where to start.

This morning, I turned on TBN to watch Joyce Meyer. I flipped to the channel a little earlier than usual and caught the end of a sermon discussing atheism, God’s existence and why bad things happen even though God is good. Sounds like a great place to start my research. Another prayer answered.

God hears every prayer we pray. I love the scripture from Genesis 16:11 And the Angel of the Lord continued, See now, you are with child and shall bear a son, and shall call his name Ishmael [God hears], because the Lord has heard and paid attention to your affliction. God cares about everything that concerns us.  James 4:2 says we do not have because we do not ask. Ask God for everything, then wait, expecting Him to answer.

Psalm 66:19 But certainly God has heard me; He has given heed to the voice of my prayer.
